Crazy long week. J us t when I thought my week could get no worse, care flight helicopter landed right across the road in neighbors field. They were there about 20 minutes. Just left. I think one of our elderly neighbors got transported, but not sure. Prayers for their family tonight.
Praying.
When I was at the University for treatment, my wing was in view of the helipad. I hated seeing the helicopters, I knew it meant someone's life had just changed and not for the better. But at least they get you to the Very Smart People quickly.
I got brave and decided I was going to ride Daffy today. Got her all tacked up--I won't say how much dust, cobwebs and dead spiders
I had to wipe off my saddle before I would put it on her. I don't have a space to lunge her or anything like that right now, so I was just counting on our years of understanding for her to behave. yeah right. She wasn't really bad, but she still hates having the bit in and complains about that a lot. She also didn't want to stand still for mounting. There's no way I can mount from the ground, so I was using the porch as a mounting block. It's not quite tall enough and then----I literally could not swing my right leg over the back of the saddle
. I know my muscles are weak from the steroids, but it never occurred to me I wouldn't be able to do that. So, I tied her back up and worked off my frustration by cleaning out a breeding pen and re-bedding it.
When Honey came home, I told him I have a project for him, I need a taller, safe mounting block. I told him about needing to strengthen my outer thigh muscles, bless his manly heart he had some creative "couples exercises" he's more than willing to help me do, all in the name of strengthening, of course. I love that man so much.
