My leukemia's back.

Hi Blooie. Will definitely be thinking about Kendra and your family as they go through the process. My job for the past year is to review pediatric surgery charts for complications, and I've followed many Mitrofanoff cases. Most have great success, and a good chunk of the ones that have complications are due to poor aftercare by the family.

It can be a great option for long term catheterization, and I hope things go well for her along the way!

Blooie...you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
One of the great mysteries to me is why does God let children suffer. I've seen so much of it in my hospital travels.
But I guess that's not for us to understand. I have to believe that in the end all children get a free pass to heaven.
I pray for good results Blooie....I can think of worse places to be stuck then Denver...if you all get stuck there try and enjoy the city as much as you can.
Some one who cares.....Phil

Thanks, Phil. If anyone has known me for more than 5 minutes then they know that our grandkids are involved with us daily - or close to it. We take care of them while moms work, and there's nothing we won't do to help them. Kendra is an amazingly strong, independent little stinker, full of laughter and fun and life. God forgot to tell her she has a disability and we ain't gonna tell her either! But, oh, how I hate Denver! Jenny and I lived down there for 6 weeks waiting for Kendra to be born, then waiting through her first surgery when she was just a few hours old, and then her recovery. I can't do the traffic, I can't do the crowds, and I spend the whole time there on pins and needles. I found where the Target store was, where the hospitals were (after Kendra's birth she and Jenny were kept in separate hospitals) and where the gas station was. That was it....anything other than that and the Ronald McDonald house was went beyond my scope of abilities!

Thanks....yeah, that's about what we've heard about the process too. So we're sure hoping that she's one of the successful ones!

to Blooie's stomach bug! Okay, I just love that smacking smilie, gotta admit.

I don't know why it seems God wants us at this house. We've tried to get out for years with no success. I'm just so tired of the mud.

So, does anyone know what happened to Michael OShay? He wasn't on this thread, but he was very active in other areas of the site and then just poof, he's gone. Even when he moved he was updating us on the board, I'm worried something happened. I've sent a PM with no response. I hate it when interwebz friends up and disappear

I just went to his profile. He has not posted in over three weeks but was last on BYC 5 days ago. I wonder it there was a problem three weeks ago that had the account locked. I know of one member that had to leave BYC around that time. (trying to not break a rule here so I hope you know what I am talking about).

When that happens, pm messaging works(can get them but not respond) so send a pm with a personal email address.

I noticed the same thing Rachel...I used to see Michael frequently on the new member welcome threads and we've chatted a bit in the past. He was such a frequent poster, I've missed seeing him around. Hope all is ok.

Blooie, my parents lived out in Denver for 42 years. Boy, has that place changed. It was a big city back when they first moved there but that's just a crazy town now. Just figure out the necessary places like you did last time and you'll be ok as long as you don't venture out too far.

The only city I've ever spent much time in is Detroit...I just always heard Denver was nice....sorry

Blooie, you and Denver sound like my mom and I in Portland last year. We hated that motel room, but are too much country mice to enjoy getting out in the big city.

Praying for Kendra, her parents and you and Ken. Sounds like this procedure could be a great thing for her as she's maturing and spending more time with other kids. I laughed out loud when reading the part about post op instructions, they want the child to get up and about as soon as possible....I'm thinking that's not so much an issue with Kendra. What a great idea to have the caregivers practice the first caths while the child is under anesthesia, someone had good thinks for that one. Some parents are so timid about doing procedures like that so that would make things much easier.

Ron, I don't know what you're talking about, but if he logged on a few days ago, at least he's not dead in a ditch somewhere. Thanks for that. You just get used to seeing the same folks and wonder when they up and vanish. Then again, maybe he had a heart attack, got well-medicated with some good Morphine and changed his BYC password then couldn't remember what it was.....

I've heard that can happen

Sharing a house with teenage boys....well, you can imagine some of the things that happen here. One of the more share-able was today. I keep my boots by the kitchen door. Slid my foot in one today and there was something soft inside the boot. Reached my hand in there and fished out a gummi worm.....okay, I've not bought gummi worms in I can't remember how long. So who's been eating gummi worms, and why did they drop one in my boot? I hold out the gummi worm and put on my best "What the heck" mom face and go into Sugar Monkey and Echo's room. Before I can even say a word, Sugar Monkey snatches the worm from my hand and pops it in his mouth, barely chews and swallows. I'm just dumbfounded. He says " Now you have no evidence and can't prove a thing". I don't know, maybe the worm was a witness to something? But the look on his face when I told him I fished it out of my boot was priceless, and now Echo is ragging him about eating worms from boots.....just another day in my sea of testosterone
