My leukemia's back.

Thanks Guys!

I will be watching the streams and staying on the main roads.

The best part is that the lakes are going up and the Sierras are getting snow! The 5 year drought might finally be over after this year.

Funny, we had a potential buyer come look at our property yesterday. Not sure where in Ca he's from, but he was kind of overwhelmed by the amount of water we have....granted, we do have some drainage issues, but we've also had a boatload of rain recently, and the ground can only hold so much......it was kind of funny watching him try to process. I kept assuring him it dried up nicely when it quit raining, and yes my neighbor had a lovely crop this year so he should be able to grow here just fine....we'll see if he puts in an offer....

I grew up further north in California. We moved to Woodland from Corning, which is at 276' above sea level. Woodland is at 69' above sea level. It rains a bit less here then there but the rain does not have as many places to go. My first winter here was shocking at how much flooding there was with such a little amount of rain in comparison.

It really depends on where the person is from in California in regards to understanding drainage.

Major brrr!

Christmas of '89 we had a very unusual cold snap here - we hit 0[SUP]o[/SUP] F, a new record low. It just doesn't get that cold here; it's actually pretty unusual for the temperature not to get above freezing on any winter day. Normally, we can grow pansies for winter color here, and when I heard they were forecasting temps in the single digits and windy, I thought, "well, so much for the flowers." At almost the 11th hour, they started talking about snow . . .  I thought, "oh, good. If we can get, oh, about 6 inches, it will be nice insulation." In my wildest dreams, I never imagined 15 inches - that doesn't happen here, either! Incredible mess!

I bet the ground freezes pretty deep at -5.

Yeah the frost line goes deep here.... We need some snow on the ground the couple of inches we have isn't gonna help. Hopefully we won't see any 20 of 30 below tempos before we get a good heavy snow layer down.
The good new is the lakes are frozen and I can go ice fishing this weekend.

Yay, Phil! Enjoy. If I'm home for the day, I simply pull my jeans on over my jammy bottoms. I've not had long johns for years, so that extra layer under the jeans is welcome. It really helps to even out my temp during the day.

Oh, that's pretty but it just looks too cold for me. Although, I'd like a good freeze to combat the mud

I got one of the brooders all cleaned out yesterday. Heat lamps all put away. Will get the other brooder cleaned out today. No more chicks until.....well, not gonna commit on that just yet, but not for a month or so anyway. I really should wait until we move, but we'll see what the timeline is on that. Our Realtor was saying a rehab loan can take 90 days to close escrow, that's putting us almost at April. I'm not saying I can hold out that long.......

Outpost and hb, still praying for you.

Good morning everyone.

Rachel, hope things move along as quickly as possible so all of you can get settled in a new place by spring.

This time of year I break out my flannel lined jeans. Love those things, live in them!! Warmth without bulk. Sure, they look a little baggy, but I ain't exactly the "skinny jean" type so it matters not to me!

We are supposed to get to between -17 and -22 degrees this Friday, depending on which weather report we see. I don't like that kind of weather report when the kids have to go to Denver on Saturday. I sure hope Jenny remembers to talk to them and see if we can get Kendra's 6 month Spina Bifida checkups changed to a different 6 month cycle. Still don't know if she'll have to have surgery to fix the MACE that she pulled out a few weeks ago. They could be delayed coming back from Denver if they have to do that, or if the weather goes to heckle in a hand basket.
