I was given a great blessing tonight. I went out to shut up the chicken run. On my way back inside, I heard a sound I'd not heard since I was a little girl: a Whip-poor-will! They simply have not been in my area for years and years!!!

That is a lovely sound LG!

I love those too! All of those ground dwelling bug eating dusk loving birds.

In Texas their numbers really dropped when the fire ants moved in.

I need to ask my sister how many there are now..... I know the turkey population has been going back up.

Oh, what a gift!!! There are bird songs that we can go for years without hearing, but the moment we are blessed with that song again we can instantly recognize it and smile at the wonder! I'm so glad you had that moment!
