Welcome to the thread. Sadly, Rachel is recently deceased, but we journey on in her memory as a source of mutual support.

When I'm sitting in that chair, with my jaw cramping up from holding my mouth open while a stranger pokes around in there with sharp objects, staring at my uvula, I find myself wondering... Why, oh why would someone choose to do this for a living?

For the answer to that question, see @bruceha2000 's earlier post, "I'd love to be making $750 an hour..."

Seriously, they make good money (at least the ones I've known). As for me, there's too much "ick" factor involved. :sick
And there's that whole schooling thing...

He..he..nope, no laughing gas here, not even in the past when I had a cavity being worked on.
My teeth are so sensitive, and I'm so terrified, that they use gas on me just to clean my teeth. It costs a little more, but it makes life a whole lot easier for everyone. For fillings, I usually have at least two and sometimes three shots of Novocaine PER FILLING. Yep - pretty much my face is numb for the rest of the day.

:lau I have never wondered that. I just think, "Hurry up, and get it over with!"
