When I was in, I think, 6th grade a kid down the block was run over by his father's truck. He was on a skateboard holding onto the side mirror ... until he lost his grip. I'm sure the father wasn't going very fast on a residential street, probably not even close to the posted 25 MPH. But he killed his son just the same. Those neighbors did the right thing and I hope the mother learns something from her experience with the court system. Like she is LUCKY none of the kids got hurt.I saw a news story about a woman who drove around and around a roundabout with 3 little kids in a wagon attached to the back of her car. The neighbors told her it was dangerous, and she needed to stop. She told them to mind their own business, so they called the police. She was charged with several counts of child endangerment.
I'm here! Thanks for the shout-out. I've just been really busy and not on BYC much.
Had a great time with the family here for the Balloon Fiesta, but ended up exhausted at the end of it all. Still have the tail end of a skin infection at some catheter sites, which probably wasn't healing since my reserves were too low. So I've just been catching up on work and resting in the afternoons.
DH and I will be escaping for a long weekend for his birthday. Should be nice just hiking through some national monuments and staying at a B&B away from all our daily stresses.

that was too much excitement.I come this afternoon with a heart full of thanksgiving. MY dog, who is a trash hound, did quite the number on herself this week. 2 nights ago, she started crying in the middle of the night. So, I spent the rest of the night letting her in and out and in and out and in and out... she spent all night vomiting, I called vet next day, and they had no openings. At this point, my option was to wait till the emergency vet clinic opened up at 5:30 yesterday evening. $100 to just walk through the door. I don't know what they charged for parking. Any how, by this time, the vomiting had stopped, and she was acting just a tiny bit better, (though still not drinking) so we opted to wait till her appointment the next day. In the mean time: my grand dtr. was with me b/c she was sick... I took her to Dr, and she was diagnosed with Strep throat, I was nauseated/head achey all day, and the power steering on the truck died for the second time in 2 days. (Hubby has been tending that.)
So, after a trip to the vet, X-ray, SC bolus of 500 cc of NS, injection to help control her nausea, dog is home, resting, and hopefully her appetite will return. I'm thankful that her blockage was passed, and that I'm not faced with emergency surgery, or even a decision to euthanize. Thank you Lord.
