uh....now. Pond has been frozen all of the way across for over a week.
Snowing more now.
Our house is insulated enough...even with no heat, if I keep the bedroom door closed, by morning it isn't too bad.

Nah, Alaskan is too frugal for that, it would be stretched farther.Oh Alaskan I wish I could send you my huge Sycamore tree that no one wants -you'd have enough fire wood to the next century.
That is why I "rotated" my stacks 90° so that wouldn't happen again. Wasn't hard to do 3 years ago after I was scrounging dead branches out of the ancient maple in the front yard in the springWe have 3+ cords that will be stored outside this winter so we can use up the 2 cords in the garage that are probably 5+ years old b/c new stuff keeps getting stacked in front of it.
Rassa frassa no good woodchucks!Looks like a ground hog has dug a tunnel right in the middle of the garden.
Um... Perhaps, I'm a bit... lacking in understanding here... Or, perhaps, my weather patterns are different here in Maine... but what else would it be snowing?
Which would lead into the discussion about how many different kinds of snow are there?
We're in the 40's today, and rain, rain, rain .

sorry to hear that

Don't you get different kinds of snow?
there are lots of kinds. Snow can be like granulated sugar, or powdered sugar, or sticky stuff that squeaks when you squish it......
but I always hope that it is snowing drier lint....or cherry blossoms.....or chicken dander...Well, yeah, there's lots of different kinds of snow. But... It's snowing snow???? Now... seriously. Has it ever snowed rain? Or snowed cats and dogs? Or snowed money? Or snowed ????
Yeah: different kinds of snow:
The kind that blows sideways and covers the side of the tree trunks. The kind that stings. The kind that melts when it hits the ground. The kind that hisses when it hits the ground. The kind that looks like little tiny styrofoam balls. The kind that just keeps tumbling around on the breezes, never seeming to land. The kind that is a conglomeration of big puffy flakes all twined together, so each clump is HUGE. The snow that comes with a howling wind. The snow that silences the world around you, so all you hear is the ever so soft of flakes, as they patter around you. The kind that squeaks under your feet. The kind that tries to suck your boots off your feet. Then, there's what it does on the ground: How it mixes with the road salt and gravel, and the tires squish through it, making it look like peanut butter cookie dough. Yellow snow. Drifting snow, that makes giant sculptures that look like huge waves of surf: frozen in time. Swirling snow that makes shifting patterns across the roads, or ice. And my favorite: a huge expanse of snow, void of foot prints, with new snow laying across the glaze of previous snow storms, with each layer resulting in a completely different shade of white, depending on how it catches and reflects the sun. Only God could create so many infinite and intricate shades of white!
I believe the Inuit have many many different names for snow.![]()
Good morning, Team Rachel. If possible get outside and enjoy your day - winter is on it's way.
