It might be cheaper. It's a gamble. The odds are in the Ins. Co. favor. After all, we know they are in it to make a profit, at the expense of the customer. But, get hit with a major surgery, a chronic disease, and it could completely wipe you out. Though, I believe that health care providers are required to provide treatment, and set up a reasonable payment plan. Realistically, we all know the likelihood that such a self pay customer "on a payment plan" would be most likely to find herself locked out of the system: "Sorry, we can't see you until next April. Sorry, this Doc is not accepting new patients. Sorry... this treatment, medication, these supplies are only available if you have an insurance company..."

and even when i was in high school and wanted to join the military they loved my test scores but once they found out i had diabetes, they wouldnt take me -citing i had a 'terminal' disease

I suppose diabetes would keep one out of combat duty. Doesn't mean you can't be one hell of a desk jockey though.

Cynthia, I had an acromioplasty, as well as a lot of arthritic tissue cleaned out of the joint a number of years ago. Don't expect a quick recovery. I was non wt bearing for 3 months IIRC, and it took a full year to regain full range and feel completely normal again. It was well worth it, B/C I was not functional with that shoulder before. Will be thinking about you in my prayer life.

Alaska. One of the newer features in freezers is a lock. I love that feature. I can't tell you how many times I've crammed just one last thing in my fridge, or the freezer above it only to have things shift just a bit, and find that the door has been ajar all night long. We've never lost the contents b/c of that, but... for sure, it's an energy drain.

Good to know. Doctor did say I would be in the arm brace for 5 weeks. Then off to therapy. I'm guessing should be doing better by the first part of the year. He says it takes 3 months to be pretty much back to normal.

are you having repair or replacement?

Repair in four different places. I did a number when I fell down the stairs. I still have my knee to think about and my right shoulder also but it isn't nearly as bad as the left shoulder that's going to be done. I can hardly even use it and only have one sleeping position on it so they are getting me in pretty quick, thank goodness.
