My leukemia's back.

by the by.....

my dad was diagnosed with cancer at the base of the tongue...was it 5 years back now? Anyway, he had super high radiation and chemo, which just about did him in. He was on a feeding tube for maybe 6 months. ... that cancer went away, but getting him to actually do his occupational therapy, eat right, and exercise has been just. .... ..well. ....torturous.

He has had ups and downs, some tines bed ridden and sometimes semi-functional to mostly functional. He is a professor and keeps trying to teach.. .

anyway....

So, this fall he was doing better again, still not taking care of himself like he should (can NOT get that man to eat right).

And, he went in for another cancer check, and this one was bad.

They scoped his throat, and took biopsies all of the way down, 2 came back positive for cancer.

My folks go back in on Friday to get the rest of the info as well as prognosis.

If this is a new cancer, and if we got it at the earliest stage, then there is a 40% survival rate. If this is a matastasies from the original cancer then ..well...very bad.

I dunno.

This entire ride has been difficult for me. The chemo and radiation turned my dad into...well...not my dad.

My dad is alive, but I have missed him for years... and I mean personality, not the being feeble part.

Just thought that this was a good place to vent.
:hugs

good update.

Appointment today said the cancer of the Esophagus is a NEW cancer, not the old one spreading.

That is very good news.

Appointment next week will tell them what stage the cancer is in, prognosis, and plan.
Well I guess that's about as good as you can ask for at this point.....:hugs
