@getaclue I can so relate to counters never being cleared off completely. It makes me crazy....but when you have a houseful of company it seems like that's the first place we lose control.

I think I want to come and spend Christmas with you! Hay rides, outdoor fire, the whole roasting 'shmallers thing...sounds like so much fun! Makin' memories!

I prayed for 3 years for this place. I had a goal in mind. A big part of that goal, was making great memories for my grandchildren. Yes, I want to pass on teaching my own grown children to grow a garden, raise chickens, can, freeze, and store food, but that was not my only goal. It's important to teach children that fun is not just pre-canned for them. They don't need a genuine superman cape, or hulk hands. A towel secured with a clothespin, and some imagination work better. Work gloves, and imagination make wonderful hulk hands. A fire, while learning to be careful, is a wonderful way to cook food, and it tastes delicious. Having fun in the country is different from having fun in the city. They need to learn both. They also need to learn that physical labor is part of life, not just sitting in front of a tv screen, playing games, or on a computer.
