NO pay in what he does, LG....he just does it because it's who he is. So we usually end up with more bills - hotels, food, extra fuel. But I wouldn't have him any other way!

Very true. And that's when family & friends say a little prayer for them.

I've had bosses that insisted all employees show up no matter what...and then they (the boss) stayed home.

My dtr has such a boss. I urged her to stay home today, and hope that she will stand up to him. No job is worth risking life or limb.

I had the sort of job that required that I get in every day - involved animal care. In 25 + years there was only one day that I missed work because of weather. I tried that day and got stuck in a drift at the end of our road. Luckily my assistant was able to make it to work. One of the many bonuses of being old and retired is that when the weather turns to crap I just hunker down.

That's one of the things I appreciate about my seasonal job. Work like a dog all summer but winters off, not a bad deal, especially here in WY!

I remember one year when hubby and I headed to work in a snow storm. We were driving an old Ford Pinto. We left our house, and by the time we'd driven 5 miles, we had been mired in drifts half way up the door panels of the car 4 times. We got pulled out each time by other travelers. After the last pull out, we stopped at my parent's house, which was near by, and waited out the storm. Oh to be young and foolish!

Oh to be young and foolish!

I'd love to be young again, but not certain that I would survive some of the foolish a second time around. My guardian angels were getting tired. I asked them to leave and take care of my grandkids.

Dtr called. She stayed home today, and her boss actually rearranged the schedule so she won't have to go in till later tomorrow. Yes!!!
