We have a big duck slough across the road that we rent out to hunters. We had the same renters for almost 40 years. After one of them died of cancer, the family asked if we'd mind if they put some of his ashes in the slough. They put some of his ashes in 3 shotgun shells and dropped them in the water.I just want to be creamated and my ashes put in a jar and sunk to the bottom of little lake
Next week on the 8th.@bobbi-j , how soon is your surgery ? This week ?
Weird....I had that talk with my kids yesterday.
I wanted to sell some of my guns to build a garage. My one German Luger alone is worth around $6k..... My oldest son said no he wanted it.....I found this odd as I've bought him several hunting guns through out the years. And he's never even taken them out of the box.
That gun is my most prized possession.... But yeah I explained to him that if I just sold two guns I could put this garage up without borrowing any money. He seems adamant that he wants this gun.
I told the wife it's funny that he never knew I had it till yesterday.
There's gonna be a little tuff I think cuz I told my youngest son that Carson has to get my great great grandpa's old gold pocket watch as he's the oldest grandson within the Randall bloodline...... That's not going to go over good with Jeremy cuz Mason is the oldest legal grandson...... But he's adopted and it was made clear to me the watch had to go to Randall blood...... Even though I love the kids all equally....... But here's the deal....I will save everything..... And if be pretty well off it I sold it...... Especially my tools. .... But I just don't want to hold this stuff if they are going to sell it anyways. Heck they all are doing better than me as it is........ Okay rant over......
Geez, you would THINK that given your history they would figure out they shouldn't be shoving you at the back end of the queue. It's because I'm not "sick". If I was in the hospital, they'd be able to get a consult right away. Since it stays walled off, no fevers, no spreading, etc., I need to see them outpatient and that's the next clinic opening. When I get back home I can call every day to see if there is a cancellation.![]()
That is some SERIOUSLY white sand! I've never seen pictures before. Don't forget the sunscreen and blackout sunglassesOh, and good morning everyone.. It was beautiful at White Sands yesterday.
You can always buy a new smart key though I don't think they stop working (other than needing new batteries every few years). And at least with the Prius, if the battery dies, there is a key in the fob for unlocking the drivers door and a specific location you put the fob so you can drive the car.Truthfully ..... I'm not sure fan of smart keys.
What happens when the car gets old and that thing stops working..... They make these cars throw away now days..... Poor people won't have the ability to have a good old used car in the future.
Not a problem Phil, tell him to come up with $6K and the gun is his. Or tell him he can have it if he builds the garage, to your specifications and quality, using his money. That gun is my most prized possession.... But yeah I explained to him that if I just sold two guns I could put this garage up without borrowing any money. He seems adamant that he wants this gun.
Or not ... if you decide they really don't deserve your assets. My aunt wrote my younger sister out. She never called, never wrote, my aunt never even met my sister's kids (age 23 and 28 when my aunt died in 2013) even though they all lived in CA. A flight from San Diego to San Francisco is dirt cheap, my sister and her husband have wads and wads of money. Basically sis just didn't care. On the other side of those "family values", my older sister called frequently and went up to San Francisco several times a year to visit. I always stopped in S.F. on my every other year visits to my Dad and step-mother in Oregon and my Mom in So. Cal..While I'm alive, my stuff is mine, and I'll do what I darned well please with it. The family inherits what's left, and only after I'm dead, and it's been distributed to them.
Seems pretty simple to me. I can see that the watch is a family heirloom, so it should be "off the table," but the rest of your stuff is yours to do with as you see fit. You want to raise some money without the hassle of a loan, so selling stuff makes perfect sense. Figure out what you want to sell, set your price, and let your family have the right of first refusal. If they want it, they can buy it from you; if they don't want it that badly, they have no right to complain (doesn't mean they won't, though).![]()
When my father died one of my mom's sister said even tho he was her BIL for over 26 years she didn't know him very well at all. I replied we showed up to her house 8 out of 9 invitations over all those years and they never showed up to our house once even tho they were invited many many times she told me it was because it was too far of a drive for 3 little kids and I replied I didn't know the same roads driven north then south were longer than when driven south then north she turned around and walked away without another word. what is strange I was my parents firstborn child born 9 months after my folks were married and her kids were 5 7 and 9 years older than me and she could not figure that her lame excuse fell apart before she opened her mouth....On the other side of those "family values", my older sister called frequently and went up to San Francisco several times a year to visit. I always stopped in S.F. on my every other year visits to my Dad and step-mother in Oregon and my Mom in So. Cal..
