My leukemia's back.

Good morning Team Rachel.

I've got a blessing to report. Sorry if it's a bit long, but that's the way it is. My daughter is on medicaid. Here in FL, the majority of health care clinics have converted to kids only, or "limited services", so there is only one place that treats adults. All the doctors in there are freshly graduated, and within a short time, move on to other practices.

For months now, she's had various symptoms, and requested a referral to a gynecologist. The new doctor at the clinic wouldn't give her one. She kept going back again, and again for symptoms. The doctor eventually told her she had mental issues, possible hypochondria, was making it up, and there was nothing wrong with her.

A couple months ago, her pain increased, and she could not eliminate from her bowels without the use of a laxative every other day. When she moved in here, I told her to stop using the harsh laxative she was taking every other day, and to take Metamucil every day, and use Phillips Milk of Magnesia every other day to try to get herself regulated. Phillips Milk of Magnesia is a much gentler laxative, and can be used more frequently than the harsher ones. Well, it worked a little but got worse, and more pain. Finally she went to her doctor, and her major complaint was the pain, secondly she couldn't eliminate, and demanded the doctor refer her to a GI doctor. She, the doctor, did the referral grudgingly, and it got approved.

Last week, they did an upper GI. Nothing. Somehow, I KNEW they were going to find the problem when they did the colonoscopy this week. Last night she started her prep for the colonoscopy this morning. About 30 minutes after she drank the Magnesium Citrate, she was having issues, and serious pain. I took her to the hospital. There, they gave her 3 shots of various medications. They got the impaction to pass, and she came home to finish the rest of her prep. They emphasized how important it was to get her colonoscopy, since her reaction could be due to a partial blockage. I've been praying the Lord would get her to the right doctor, and that they would find the problem, and that it could be treated.

She got the colonoscopy this morning. The doctor found a fairly large mass of infection on one of the walls of her intestine, causing the problem, but the wall is adjacent to something in her female system, and everything indicates that it originated as a gynecological issue, got worse over time, and spread. He's doing his report, calling her doctor, and making sure she gets to a gynecologist. Hallelujah! What a blessing!

While I'm not happy she's had to endure all this, without help, or sympathy from her doctor, I'm so glad my prayers were answered, and this doctor finally found a cause for her problems, and now they can treat her, and get her well. Have no fear, I'm going to have her get copies of all her medical records, and send them to the review board with a complaint.

Alaska has a crazy amount of great Internet. Unless you are out in the bush.

Most coffee shops have free wifi, and the grocery stores, and the library. .. and the City hall.
