My leukemia's back.

Good Morning, Team Rachel!
Stunning full moon last night, I got to watch it rise on my way home from work. I love the hunters moon, it is such a neat orange color in the evening as it rises over the tree tops. Nice red sunrise happening right now.
I took today off and my Mom and I are going to play tourist in Door County.

Well, not really. We live west of the bay, so the sunrise over the bay, plus a foggy morning make the sunrise red. It is fairly normal to have a red sunrise here. The next weather system is coming from the west, so any storm that would make a red sunrise is already past us.
And with it being harvest season, we get really pretty sunsets with all the dirt and dust in the air.

Morning everyone!

Rainy here today but YIPPEEE my eye is better. Waiting for DH to check it for me otherwise will be in and out most of the day getting things battened down for winter.

Have fun shopping with your mom @wyoDreamer. Enjoy every moment you can with your parents.

Everyone have a great day!

Thanks @N F C. DH says it is healing but has a ways to go yet. At least I can keep it open today which is a step up in the right direction.

Geesh never thought a pine needed could be a weapon and inflict a penetrating wound.

We have about 22 acres of timber, some of it coming right up to the back of the house. A few years ago we had arborists come in and cut the trees back a safe distance.

We use both standing dead and dead fall for our heating wood. Plus we have an ongoing project of thinning out the hickories that have tried to take over so the oaks have a chance to grow.

The AMish couple that we bought our farm from grazed the timber, which a forrester told us is the worst thing you can do to a forrest. The cattle and sheep hooves damage the root systems and they graze the new growth oaks leaving the hickory trees to take over. We are slowly seeing the oak reestablish themselves but in the mean time we are trying to get rid of some of the shag bark and smooth bark hickory that are overcrowed.

The way we see it is that we will have firewood into the future and wind up with a healthier forrest.
that sounds like a nice setup you have there. It might become too much work as some point though. Will you hire help?
