My leukemia's back.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my little sister and me (I'm on the left and she is on the right). We were all dressed up for Easter.

She was my best friend and my earliest memory (I was 2 when she was born). She passed in 2001 and it's the kind of loss you never get over. But how lucky I was to have had her in my life.

Aww, the Easter dress up. Beautiful young ladies. Sorry for your loss. 💗

I know you all have probably heard me say this before, but I think we learn more from our siblings than we do from anyone else. We keep secrets for each other, so we learn to be trustworthy. We get into arguments and have to make peace, so we learn compromise. We bounce ideas (good and bad) off each other. We learn to rely on each other while learning that the people we love the most sometimes still need their own space. We have to share - rooms, toys, clothes, our parents’ attention - which teaches kindness and patience. A sibling relationship is actually like a little mini-civilization, and we take what we’ve learned from each other and apply it to dealing with co-workers, employers, educators, and friendships. Respect, humor, resolving conflict, support in good times and in bad - we learned them all from each other.

I cherish my sisters and brother. From childhood on, they’ve been the people I share inside jokes with. They’re the first people I call when something wonderful has happened, when I need a shoulder to cry on, and when I think I need sympathy but actually need a good kick in the hiney. They call me for the same reasons. Nothing between us has changed over the years and through the years of separation.

Trying to get our annual sibling photo takes a long time. It takes a lot like these to get one decent one! L to R - Bev, Ron, me, Lori, Linda
