My little bantam hen was fine last night but when I checked on her this morning she was laying on her side not being able to stand and her mouth open breathing heavily. Can anyone please help with any ideas of what might be wrong with her

Hi there, we need some information from you.
Her age.
Her diet, brand and type.
Any other symptoms?
We aren't sure of her age, we got her about 4 months ago from the local feed store. She eats cutting edge 5-way scratch and I gave her and our little rooster some flock party dried mealworms last night for a treat. I just went out and checked on her, she doesn't have her mouth open gasping anymore but she is laying on her side with 1 leg kicked out in front of her. She tried to get up earlier and she doesn't seem to be able to stand up

Ok, she's suffering from vitamin/nutrition deficiency.
Give her 400 I.u vitamin E and about 1/3 of a b complex tablet, every day until improvement.
Also, switch to a real formulated feed like and all flock feed since you ha a rooster. if that is the only brand you can get, switch to Show Flock.
Scratch is not a feed, it's a treat since it's carb and fat heavy.

It could possibly be Mareks disease or a vitamin deficiency, unless she was injured somehow. Five Way Scratch grains is not a complete feed for chickens, just an occasional treat. Chickens require a balanced chick starter/grower until they are laying eggs, then a layer or all flock feed. I would start giving her a half tablet daily of human super B complex vitamins. It will disolve inna spoonful of water or be crushed into food. Here is some reading about Mareks disease:

Would explain why I'm seeing green poop now as well ? And would the feed store have the vitamins for her ?

Green poop is usually a sign they are not eating enough, which is common in lame birds. Any Walmart, Walgrrens, or CVS would carry human B complex and E. I would especially get the B complex. If using E, aim for 400 IU a day. Make sure that she can reach her food and water. Chicken slings can be made for lame chickens to get upright to eat and drink. Here is a link for that:

Green poop is from not eating, how's her crop feel?
The vitamin area at any store will have them.
Her crop feels fine to me but I am new to having chickens. To me it feels the same as it has. I had a hen pass away in November and her crop felt squishy almost and swollen and she had the brown liquid coming out. This little hen doesn't seem to be showing the same symptoms to me. She eats but with it not being the right food she must not be eating enough. She does lay eggs so I'm going to go back to the feed store and find the food you all are telling me about instead of the 5 - way the people that work there gave me. Thank you all so much, my mother is very attached to this little girl ❤️ you all have been so much help

Thank you so much you all have been such a huge help . Should I go ahead and give the other hens and roosters I have the vitamins as well who have been eating the 5- way even though they aren't in the shape she is in ?
