So I thought I ordered buff laced Wyandotte hatching eggs and it turns out they’re buff Wyandottes. 6 of the little chicks hatched and two of them have feathers on their feet. Neil at Shamrock Farm Wyandottes explained it was a throwback from introducing Cochin genetics several generations before and kindly offered to resend a whole new batch of eggs. How nice is that!! It’s my first time hatching shipping eggs so now I get to try it, again. Whee!

Does anyone have experience with buff Wyandottes and what their temperament is like? So far they’re just sweet little babies…

Pictures of the chicks with and without feathers and one sticky chick that is doing just fine!

Whoever or whatever they are, they're darned cute.

How nice of Shamrock Farms to resend eggs; best wishes with this and your next hatch!
I agree! Excellent communication and packaging. The second set of 18 eggs all arrived intact, which is quite a feat since the mailman shoved them in the box and my 87 year old mother-in-law picked up ‘the mail’ and drove them around town for 8 hours.

Candling the new eggs in a week. Meanwhile, these little babies are starting to show their buff feathers.
