So it's the worm season! I decided to get some worms from my backyard to feed my quail angels! I ended up getting 6 worms but the female ate all the worms! 😂 So i got the seventh one and separated the female and gave the worm to the male and he just inspects it and didn't eat it until the female flew to the cage and ate it😋 is there any way i could get him to eat it? Thanks.

I don't know what's up with some birds. The birds I had in TN would eat anything that moved; worms, aphids, katidids, grasshoppers, cicadas, etc. My NC birds act like they have tried it all before and didn't find anything appealing. They have refused earthworms, tomato hornworms, grubs, cicadas, etc. With the exception of two things. My silver laced Cochin hen will eat anything and my two Buttercups chased each other around the yard over a dragonfly. They even fought over it.
Some birds are just strange, I guess.

My coturnix quail hen refuses to eat mealworms! She is not interested in bread crumbs, cereals, or boiled/scrambled eggs either. Never met a bird that refuses those treats, but she does:hmm Those crazy birds!

My quails are the same way. My new four will eat ANYTHING, but my original three won’t touch anything besides their feed. I’ve tried EVERYTHING, I even released some crickets but that resulted in me having bugs all over the hutch for a few days 😂

A good male who has a harem will give the choicest treats to his hens. He will tidbit just like a rooster, so he may be being polite. Earthworms can carry gapeworm too. Stick with mealworms as buggy treats. Sprouted alfalfa and sunflower seeds are always appreciated too.
