i have a young mallard drake thats getting all of his sex feathers like his green on his head will he do bad at show?? i have a show to go to on monday!!!

yes its done young and old just like chickens and he is young so i expect most of them to look like that especially if they were hatched close to the same time Right?

Exactly my thought. If there is a specific age category, all his competition will look like that too.

that was my thought after you said that b/c i was freakin before and not thinking really so ya i bet they will all look similar. Hope so b/c right now he isnt too cute!! lol

I dont wanna be a party pooper but my mallard drake would be in the young category too and he was born in april. He's already in full drake dressing...so you may see "young" drakes there that look like complete breeding adults already. BUT hopefully theres plenty that are inbetween like your boy! good luck!

ya he was hatched early april and he is just now starting to get his green head and all of that and im worried he wont do well because of that he is a nice well put together little drake just a bit of a late bloomer i guess well c

I know nothing about duck shows, but the worst that can happen is that you don't win. I'd say you have nothing to lose by going. At least you will learn more about the process and what to expect for next time.
