Hey All!
The post office called at 745am this morning. They were here. I ordered four Ameraucana and four Spitzhaubens. I used Meyer because they still had these birds in stock this late in the year. Ideal was sold out. Cackle had them as well, but with the Spitzhaubens, they just sold straight run and I was willing to pay a tiny bit more in both price and shipping to get exactly what I wanted. I don't know about everyone else, but earlier batches from the feed store yielded high rooster counts. Out of six RIR's I got two roos, and out of two BAs I got one roo. So... I wanted PULLETS!!
Everyone arrived healthy and happy. One's a bit smaller than the others and had a slight leg splay, but shes wearing a band-aid hobble and is doing much better. I have them on my desk in a big 20 gallon aquarium with a desk lamp on them rather than a heat light. The heat light would have broiled them today.. its going to be hitting the high 80's outside which means hot hot inside too.
