I'm so proud! the Eggs with RIR on the are obvious what they are and the eggs with "RUN" on them are my runner ducks I got today. I mention that because my husband being funny since my first htach with my "Poor mans bator" was a complete failure, he joked that he thought I put RIP on the RIR's "getting a head start on the funeral" and that I was telling the runner ducks to run! HAR HAR HAR! He's SO funny!

what type of pen have you used t write on your eggs. Just asking because I have read alot on here that you are only supposed t use lead pencil due to the toxins in ink

It was a sharpie BUT I had read a bunch of threads on what is safe to use to mark eggs and they responces vearied. All people who said they used sharpid never had a problem with using them. With my first time hatching I used pencil and I really don't think my marking them had anything to do with the poor hatch. they were shipped eggs and seems lots of people have poor hatches with shipped eggs. Plus in my poor mans bator temps and humidity were crazy and when the babies died one by one while still in the shell having never piped I poped them open to see what could have caused it. I mean they were cheeping and all so I could figure what on earth was making them die. It looked like my humidity had been too low the whole time and was too late by lock down time. they were shrink wrapped. Poor duckies. Any way, I think/hope the sharpie wont hurt them. Like I said, other peolpe said they use them just fine. I thought the same you did that it would be toxic but some one said that the stuff in sharpies makes them dry real fast so the toxic stuff doesn't have time to poison the eggs. We'll see.
