I have a year old silkie hen(named bubba), this is her first time having chicks so i do know not everything is going to be perfect.
For the past week or week and a half my silkie mama has been leaving her chicks to come get pets from me or to hang out with the roosters, and leaving her chicks behind for long periods of time. But bubba also started laying eggs a week ago.
Shes not mean to her babies and she keeps the warm at night.
This morning i put her, her chicks and the rooster she came with in a coop with a run so she cant leave them. Is that a good idea though? Because if she’s spending her time laying eggs instead of taking care of the chick does that mean she doesn’t want her babies anymore?
