Crowing
My mom got bantam chickens a few months ago, and we're hoping to hatch some eggs of ours this time, (she had some normal-sized chickens before, but that was one thing we never attempted). They haven't started laying yet, and we would like to know the timeframe of them doing so and how broody they'll get, as well as just some basic stuff about them, but we have no idea what breed 5 of them are. It would also be helpful if you could tell me how much they lay and how broody they are. The other 4 appear to be 3 Golden Laced Sebrights and one especially small Old English Game Bantam. I looked up Sebrights, and it appears they're nearly impossible to breed. Probably makes them a bad choice for first-time breeders like us, but we figure if the hen ever does lay eggs, we'd like to at least try to hatch them since the breed is apparently endangered. The hen doesn't have a rose comb, and it's not like we got these from a fancy breeder, my mother literally got them on sale at Tractor Supply! So I was wondering what they were mixed with. Also, I read somewhere that hen-feathered males tend to be less fertile, but I do not know how to tell whether they're hen-feathered or not, (especially when dealing with bantams!) So it would be helpful if someone could say whether our two Sebright roosters are hen-feathered or not.
