Hi seasoned chicken owners, I hatched 4 eggs from some backyard eggs I purchased. Hatch day 5/21-23 (19, 20, 21 days incubation time). The chicks are just over 7 weeks now. 3 from brown eggs, the grey chick from a blue egg (owner said the hen was an EE). Two chicks (one barred with some rustic color one pure black) have a small crest with a strangely Y shaped comb.

Any idea about the gender? I keep staring at them and just can’t figure out. The pure black may be a pulled? The others every time I looked at them I change my mind. The possibility of them being all cockerels is 20%, and I hope it won’t become 100%!

I think if the one in the middle of your 1st and 2nd picture is the same bird as the one in the 5th picture, it is a male. The rest look like pullets.

I am not the best person to tell, but the funky combs (and crests) could be passed down from some possible Polish ancestry.

I agree, the only one looking male to me is the barred one with the crest. I think the blue one and the black one are probably pullets. The other barred chick I'm not sure on, but nothing screams male to me at this time.

Yes , it’s the same bird. And the earliest one I suspected as a male.

I change my mind about the grey/blue one and the the other barred chick daily😅
