Hi, my name is Kirsten and I'm a new member to Backyard Chickens! I live in Pennsylvania, US. I have copy and pasted the suggested newbie questions below!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens! I got my first chicks March of 2021.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 7 hens and just recently added a rooster. I intend on getting a few more hens soon!
(3) What breeds do you have?
My hens are: 1 white leghorn, 1 black australorp, 2 cinnamon queens, and 3 ISA browns. My rooster I'm not sure of (which is one of the reasons I joined this website)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Of course the eggs, but I love watching them! They all have such personalities!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm a big-time sucker for animals. Besides my chickens I have my cat (Lucy), parakeet (Killer), and snake (red tail boa named Tarzan) and have previously had bearded dragons, leopard geckos (even bred them for a while), a pacman frog, and a rat! I love learning and caring for animals ❤
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My family consists of me, my boyfriend (of 6 years), and my pets that I shared in my last question. I work in a warehouse.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I learned about BYC from googling questions about my chickens and decided to join in hopes BYC could help me figure out what breed my rooster might be!
