My name is MAXX not MAX

OK I probably would have just assumed your name was Max but that username was already taken here, so you just added another x so you could keep essentially the same name

I really never think that your online forum username is your real mother-given name

I have a boss named Ashtyn. Nobody can figure out how to say it (she gets called Ashlyn a lot) and it took me a while to learn to spell it. It still might be wrong in my phone

but when I was younger I couldn't say my "ch" so I called myself "GretYen" so that's what my sisters call me.

That's ok when I was young I called them and still call them : Melinda ~ inna, Johanna~Gogo (cuz I couldn't say my "j's" either), and Marta ~ tata or Marta Farta if she made me mad.

Oh that's where my "e" went!

Terrie, I'm constantly catching myself (obviously not thoroughly enough!) forgetting your 'e'! I worked for seventeen years with a girl who was Terri, I apologize for misspelling your name

Maxx,
Absolutely nothing wrong with setting the record straight but you know you will still get it. Many people won't see this thread. As somebody else mentioned, I do not assume the screen name is the real name. I look in the signature for that. You might want to consider putting the spelling down there. Depends on how important it is to you.

I know I am in the minority but when we named our kids, we had some basic guidelines. Neither my wife nor I had any of these issues, but I had seen others that had problems in school or work due to some of these things and, like many others, wanted our kids to have life with one less problem.

1. There had to be one commom way to spell the name. (Terry - Terri - Terrie) or (Ann - Anne)

2. We tried to get names that did not sound like other common names <Craig & Greg(g)>

3. There could be another 1 or 2 in the school with the same name, but not many more than that. But they needed to be names that others had heard of.

4. The sex needed to be clear by the name.

5. Watch what the initials spelled. What might other kids call Doris Ursula Matthews? Or would you want your initials to be the same as Ike Ralph Simpson's?

After my wife worked as a volunteer at an elementary school library and automated the library, she added two more.

6. Do not use punctuation marks or strange symbols in a name. The computer does not like it.

7. Give only a first name, middle name, and last name. Again, the computer does not like additional names.

All my rules and then Johnny Cash came out with that song "A Boy Named Sue"!!!

My first name is Rebecca, which everyone calls me Becky. Not much you can get wrong there, other than maybe putting an extra B or leaving out a C on Rebecca. Also I've had people spelling it 'key' on the end of Becky

My middle name is Kristine. Can't tell you how many times it's been said as Kirsten, Kristen, Christina, or spelled as Christine. It nags me because I love my middle name so much

Never met anyone else with that name before. Oh, and I've been called Becca a lot, which I'm not too fond of either.

On the internet, almost all of my usernames are Mary Of Exeter. So I get called Mary a lot on here. But that doesn't bother me at all. I'm used to it!

Oh and by the way, Maxx is a pretty cool name/spelling. It's different

Wow. That's a lot of criteria. I've gotten over being annoyed when people say my name wrong, it gets a bit old but I can handle it.

Yeah, definitely overthinking it. I would advise against the punctuation marks in the name. That is a problem for computers. The rest, purely personal choice. As an aside, I think a great place to look for possible names, especially middle names, is family history.
