I got my first 8 chicks one year ago. I incubated and hatched my first eggs 8 weeks ago.

Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds and Bantams
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are humorous, smart, curious and I love those eggs.

Music, sailing, grandchildren, squirrels!

I am a retired nurse. I have 2 grown children, a grandson and another grandbaby on the way. I have a dog named Jiblet and my husband is retired from the navy.

I found BYC while looking for answers to a chicken problem.
