I am a new member but I have been on this site frequently for quite some time. I have quite the hobby farm going here and I need a little assistance with my Pekin duck mommy..
She is being a naught Mommy right now. She has laid 5 eggs so far and the first 2 are double yolk eggs. The last 3 she laid successfully are normal size and have only one yolk in them. She laid 2 yesterday that we not even close to ready so we had a bit of a mess to clean up. She is not sitting on them which I didn't really expect her to until she was done laying but she is scattering them all over her pen. I put them back in her nest all in the same place and when I go back they are scattered all over the place. She was just a baby when we got her from our local feed store in middle of May this past summer. She is extremely grumpy and mean to all the other animals in the yard. She runs around honking and carrying on with the drake and so we named her Hussy!
Will these double yolk eggs hatch? I brought the eggs inside to hatch them indoors. Should I put them back out there with her and HOPE that she will take care of them? We are really wanting these eggs to hatch but I am new to this and I want to make the right decision. I don't want them to sit outside and rot. She seems to have zero interest in the eggs at all.
Just a little background..we have 2 Pekin ducks, one male and one female, 2 Muscovy ducklings, one is black and the other white and I am not sure of their sex yet. We have 2 little chickens that are about 6 weeks old and we have 3 Egyptian Goslings and they are about 4 months old, we are pretty sure 1 of them is a male and the other 2 are females.
I am up for any advice! We are really excited that she is finally laying and want to make sure they hatch successfully.
