My new aviary

So when you burn part of the wing of the wound will be burned away so no infection and they feel pain for less then a second. I this method is very common in Europe and they can never fly again. But do this in the first 15 days that they live others wise it will hurt them more and be harder to do because the bones grow

OK thanks. So how do I cut the wing? With a knife, scissors or what?
After this will they be able to fly up to the nest box or should I put a ramp to it?

You take a small metal rod that you heat up until it is red glowing. Then take the chick and slide the part thar you amputate over and then the part will fall of put you have to push It down. Basecly you burn of part to the wing this way you don't get any wounds. I advise you doing it with two 1 heating the rod constantly and the other amputating parts of the wing

what do you feed the mergansers because as you said they eat fish. i dint notice you had meragansers in that post

I give them a floting food that contains fish and it floats on the water for 7 hours they get this once a day and then I have a container with normal duck food that all my other ducks eat but my other ducks also eat floating

oh ok. I saw some wild goosanders here in the uk last year, just thought id tell you. they are very close relatives to merganseres i think
