One of my Silkies went broody a few weeks ago, so I grabbed some eggs and shoved them under her.

Unbeknownst to me, she was also stealing other eggs and ended up with a ton of eggs to hatch!

I knew hatch day would be Tuesday and, sure enough, there was one Serama pipping (it hatched on Wednesday).
Today is Friday and I’ve got three hatched so far (two Seramas and one Silkie).
There’s a fourth EE that is pipping as we speak.

I had to rush and take photos cuz I didn't want to leave mama off the nest.

This miracle of life is remarkable! I’m so excited.

Aww, so cute! I see a pip on the blue egg! You're so lucky. I've had two broodies, and when the first one because broody, I didn't have a rooster. When the second hen became broody, she kept getting confused and switching nests! When the hens would lay their eggs for the day, she would go out to do her potty/food/water break, then come back in, and sit on the wrong nest! I finally gave up on her! LOL

Keep sharing those pics! ADOREABLE!

The little blue egg hatched into a Polish/EE mix chick. And four more have hatched since.

So far mama Silkie has hatched a total of 7 babies. One of the itty bitty Seramas only lived a couple of days, so we now have 6 chicks.
There are two eggs pipping and chirping right now and should be hatched by tomorrow.

I took the babies and put them inside the house so mom can hatch the remaining four eggs.
I have the babies underneath a Brinsea EcoGlow brooder with a fluffy orange dog toy bed.
(I took the EcoGlow out to take the photo.)
