I am a COMPLETE chicken newbie! I live in urban Southern California, and have have caught chicken fever!
I am so glad I found this website... SO informative!!

aww! they ARE wonderful!! and as far as your chicken fever.....that is one fever that will NOT run its course! lol! once you catch the bug, it's there to stay! chickens are extremely addictive and fun!

We have enjoyed them all afternoon! I still say to my husband this is crazy, but we are loving it.

, perfect for getting the yard ready for them. :) It's so cool, I can tell them all apart due to slightly different markings. I have names in mind, but want to wait a bit to see their personalities. Even the first day I see some, we had to make a Chicken Jail for one that was pecking the others' eyes. I can handle pecking, I know it's necessary, but less than a minute in jail (three times) seems to have helped the eye pecking. Now they are all cuddling up together sleeping. This is the most exciting thing that's happened to us since we brought our last son home from the hospital 9 years ago! Our boys are loving them too, so protective! They had to decorate the Chicken Jail... with cells and everything. I told them only one was being incarcerated, they said it was just for fun.
