I'm really looking forward to reading about photography and taking my hobby a little further. This camera was actually VERY reasonable as far as pricing goes. It's normally a $400 camera, but I did get a good discount because my uncle works at the store I bought it from. Actually, for the case, the 2 gig memory card, and the camera, I only spent $389. I was pretty happy for that deal!
I did look at quite a few cameras, but settled on the olympus because of the 18X zoom and the quality of the photos. There is a little noise when it is completely zoomed out, but the image stabilization helps ALOT.
I also went out and bought four rechargeable batteries and a new charger for $20. Regular batteries actually lasted a pretty long time, but I figure it's more economical and less waste to use rechargeables.
