My New Chicken Guardian Dogs

A great addition to your family.

They are too cute for words!

I just got back from TN last weekend with my new flock guardian dog. Here's a photo of him at 6 weeks from the breeder. His name is Aslan and he's an Anatolian Shepherd. I had him out with the chickens twice in the past three days and I think he shows just the right amount of interest in them wanting to investigate them and curious about what they are doing, but not barking at or chasing them. We lost a chicken to a bobcat a few weeks back and I'm hoping that in time, he'll be able to assure that doesn't happen again. In the meanwhile, the chickens don't free range unless I'm out there with them.

Your little Aslan is just TOO CUTE!!!!!

I'm sure he'll make an excellent guardian dog for you.

Last week we picked up a Kangal puppy, so now we have three LGD's.
We will have separate pasture areas for the dogs to guard.
We're putting two in with the sheep and one with the free-range chickens.

Those are great!!! Our flock guard dog "Harley" the 95 lb german shepherd does a good job but always herds them into one area so he can more easily keep an eye on them, LOL
The hens hate that although he gives them a few hundred sq./ft. before he gets nervous he cant see all them at the same time. He is like that though. Thinks everything you own is his to guard. Us, chickens, the cars, my socks, you name it, LOL

I'm sure the pups will be fine - just hope Dreadlock will be okay once they get more size to them. THat one pup looked like he was thinking about getting a mouth full of tail feathers for himself, you can see that in his eyes.
