Ok so my 3 new chicks have to be the dumbest chicks I have ever had. They are 26 days old. I just got them yesterday. I have them set up in a brooder kinda cage away from my main flock. There is 1 speckled sussex and 2 ameraucanas pullets. The person I got them from got them from a hatchery.. Privett hatchery I believe. They look nice and healthy and are active but they just figured out that the water was to drink and not to be scared of it... even though I have shown then the water numerous times..... they still haven't figured the food thing out yet..... I have showed them countless times..... even changed the kind of food it was incase they just didn't like what I was feeding them..... They still are acting like they have no clue how to eat.... they are almost a month old... they are not new to this..... I can tell they are not eating because their crops are empty. I can tell they are not drinking because their poop that should be like pudding is more like little logs....... I hope they figure it out soon..... I mean I have seen them peck at the food a little but then they start to scratch on the grass and peck around the food dish..... I watched them all after 1 started to drink the water real good. they all ran over and started drinking the run off water from its face then they watched it drink more and so then they started to drink real good. I am glad they figured that out.... only took a full day LOL
