My new coop... pix heavy!

Thanks for pointing out the weakness on my coop. I just hope that raccoons don't read this thread or I'll be in trouble.

I do realized that the run is not totally predator proof with welded wire of 2" x 3" opening, but the main coop is secured with an automatic coop door set on a timer. All the chickens sleep inside the coop at night and only have access to the run and backyard during the day. So I think the chickens are safe from raccoons and most night critters.
 
As long as you have 1/2" hardware cloth attached with washers and screws every 8" or so on any coop openings(windows and vents),

and double action latches on doors and egg access, you should be safe from night predators.

I'm not sure I would be able to totally trust an automatic pop door, I would have to be out there checking every night anyway...lol...might be nice for the morning tho I'm up before the birds, so no need.
