My new Coop

We used some new material as well as some material we had just laying around. Tell me what you think. I think I already need to make the run a bit bigger but its all good.

The chickens seem happy especially the bantams, the big girls want out, but how do I know they'll come home, or won't go all the way over to the neighbors, I don't have a perimeter fence.

my first ever chicken coop. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

You did a great job. I understand your concern about the run. I only have 5 hens and a rooster in my 12' by 20' run and they had every blade of grass picked clean within a month. I let mine free range for a few hours every evening and even though we have a 20 acre farm they rarely venture too far from the coop, they know that's home and where safety is but if you do let them roam just keep an eye on them the first week to see how far they'll go.

Thanks. I will definately keep an eye on them. The big girls are really friendly so if they wander I can bribe them with food and carry them home lol. We have 10 acres but there are a few houses around. I'm waiting for my little roo to start to crow. My dog is gonna have a meltdown. There are 2 pyr's and one used to guard chickens so thats why the coop is so close to the house. Bear is VERY good at his job.
You can't see the chickens at all when they are on the roost, they are hidden unless you get on your hands and knees and actually look. Last night the 4 younger chickens and 1 bantam were with one of the big girls on the roost and the other 2 bantams were in the hen house with the other big girl it was cute.
