Well I got that new Runner drake yesterday and already he is a part of the flock it seems. I let my girls out to free range and kept him in the pen and he is going crazy! he is so mad that Iwont let him out. But I just got him yesterday and though i think we would stay with the flock i dont want to chance it right now. Ill post pictures just as soon as my phone is charged.

Ok, I Know these pictures suck and i am SOOOOOOOOOO sorry, but my digital camera got sat on and now it doesnt work

I put some dummy eggs in the nest though that should kill the eater.

Ill get pictures up next time I log in, Its raining too hard right now.

I think Im going to let him free range with the girls next time, because as soon as I opened the gate to herd the brats in he got in the flock and then followed them through the pen.

Put some old light bulbs in there--the snakes will eat them thinking they are eggs & then they will splinter inside & kill them--at least, that was what I was told a long time ago--for what it's worth, I tried it (after I reached into a nest & there was a huge snake!) & I never saw a snake again.
edit to say; nice runner drake!

He was kept on two acres with a pond. Im not sure what (if) she fed them something besides what they could forage.

I heard to do that too. I had some blown eggs and filled them with salt, sealing them with candle wax. Hopefully that will do the trick!
