I would add a top to it,a hawk could swoop in or a coon, possum could climb it at night and get them. Also try and see if you can add a door to the opening of the coop if somthing gets in the run it could easliy get them.

Deer netting or something on the top is a good idea. I had my ducks for almost a year with no problem then I lost 2 in less than a week. Either a hawk or owl was swooping in and decapitating my ducks.

You may also want to have a solid cover for part of the top. Ducks like shade during the day. Those down jackets they have can get hot in full sun

Also, if you have raccoons nearby, they can reach through the fencing and grab your duck. Hardware cloth about 3-4 feet up on the bottom and partially buried to prevent digging will secure it.

I agree. Wire on the inside to prevent reach and snatches, mess or something on top for shade and deswoopination. And a Friend!! Duckies dont like to be lonely

Yeah... Id say get a duckie friend should go at the top of your to do list.

We will be getting a solid cover on top very soon. And then on 3 of the four sides when winter really sets in. Also we will be getting 2 female pekins as soon as I find some that are young and local as I want eggs.

Deswoopination....I love learning new words! Thanks Goat Walker!!

I can't find that word in my dictionary. I need to call the Websters and tell them to add is right away. It is a cool word.
ETA: I was just thinking (and I try to avoid that - it hurts lol)
What would be really pretty is to get a Cayuga and a black Swedish. The white duck, black duck and a blk/wht duck would make a pretty combination. IDK, just a weird thought that came out of nowhere...
