I was contacted by my vet who was called by a wildlife rescue about two pekin ducklings that needed a home. I have never had ducks before but we have 33 (+3 hatchlings) chickens so we thought we would give it a try and give them a loving home.
They are so sweet and fun to watch. They are still getting used to human interaction but they are only 3 1/2 weeks old so we have plenty of time.
They have an indoor brooder that’s 6’ x 5’ until their duck house gets here next week. They are put in a chicken tractor (have it for sick and injured chickens to get out during the day) once the duck house get here it will go in a screened in hardware covered run that about 10’x6’. They have a pool in the chicken run and love to go in and out of it all day. We will move that to the big run when we get them set up permanently outside.

I’m looking for any suggestions on raising Perkins that you all might pass along. Thanks!

make sure they have a good feed and also supplement with niacin since pekins get leg issues easily
They are on Purina Grower feed. I’ll have to order some brewers yeast for them. How much and how often do they get it?
