So, I got these 2 ducklings on this past Saturday from a local breeder...and when I made the phone call to ask about her ducklings, I was told that she had Pekings and Call Ducklings for sale! I was really interested in seeing the call ducks! I went to her house and I saw all of her adult Calls and they were beautiful! Anyways, I wanted to purchase 4-5 of the call ducklings @ 5.00 a piece. So, she brings out the box and then when I am looking she says "hmmm..these look like the Muscovy ducklings" and because of the fact that I personally do not care for the Muscovy Ducks, I only purchased 2! I was just wondering if any of you could take a look and tell me what you think? I really hope they are Calls! Thanks, April

It does look like the lil one with the eye stripe could be a Scovy duckling, looking at the tip of it's bill does it have a sharp tip. instead of round like the other duckling? Or does the other duckling have the same kind of bill hard to see in the pic. maybe a closer pic of both their heads

My 4 Rouens now at 14 weeks of age:) pretty babies!!

MR. DRAKE turning green. Handsome Man:)

My 2 Labs! Duke and Bella (just because they are so cute!)

pics. of the calls with their new friend Willow (a welsh harlequin)

Welsh @ 8 days old and the Calls @ 2 wks.

I tried to show the beaks and heads up a tad closer for you! I am still not sure what they are..however, the new little welsh is 8 days old and they are now at 2 weeks and shes not much behind in size! so, for my sakes I hope that is a sign of being call ducklings. Let me know what you think? I guess only time will tell what they will become! I will def. keep you all posted. Thanks:)

They look like mallard and Swedish, not muscovy. They don't look like call ducks, either.

Did you ask where she got these? Does she have any other breeds other than calls and pekins?

They are 4 weeks old now and still very small and getting lots of their feathers in! I think they are either calls or bantams? They are smaller than my rouen ducks were at this age! The one that looks like a mallard duckling I believe is going to be a gray call! she looks just like my rouen females! I think the other duckling is a blue call duck with a white bib! I will post new pics. soon! They have really changed.
I have another question for anyone who will take the time to answer. I have had the ducklings in a little fence inside the big duck pen for several weeks now. I wanted the rouens to see them and get use to them. I carry the small ducks up to the water hole and let them play. The big ducks jump in and sometimes chase after the babies. I obviously stay right with them to protect them if need be. I am wondering if the mean behavior will end? I really want them to all be penned together. Do you think they will be excepted? I hope so:) Thanks

I have 6 week olds out with adults but they still have to be on their toes because anytime they get too close to an adult they get popped or feathers pulled, just the way it is. If yours are going to be penned I would not put my bantams in with large fowl ducks like Rouens, just too easy for them to get hurt. Would love to see pics. if they can be free ranged in a large area during the day you may get away with it but I wouldn't pen them together.

I took your advice and I separated the ducks enclosure right down the middle. I have the calls and the welsh harlequin all on one side (because they have grown up together since ducklings) and they are all very close and can't stand being away from one another! the 4 rouens on the other side! Works just fine:)
However, I ended up adopting 1 more tiny little call duckling and so now she is the outcast:( poor baby!!! She is only about 1-2 wks old and the 2 calls and and welsh want nothing to do with her. 1 of the calls is very mean and bites her hard and pulls feathers. I am actually sad that we brought her home because right now she has to stay all alone and she is sad:( she wants to run to the other ducks when she hears them! Do you think that they will except her when she grows up?? I hope so. I really don't want to give her away. She is a cutie! They are acting scared of her. she runs after them and they run for their lives(kind of funny actually) but, then that 1 call attacks her and I have to run in and save her. Any suggestions? do you think it will ever work out or shall I start looking for a new home for her??

It will work out but again a very slow process, make her a small area with in the pen so they can all see each other but the adults can't hurt her, a tiny 1 week duckling doesn't stand a chance against older ducks. then over a few days to weeks try putting her with them only when supervised and just monitor when they can all be together, but this lil ones needs to get stronger and older before being with them full time. Glad the other issue is solved and is working.
