Hello, all! I’m not sure who read my post from yesterday, but it was about taking hatching eggs from my brooder due to her killing all of the hatchlings. I put all of the eggs in a box with a heat lamp. At first, I sprayed them with water, but then I learned to just put a small bowel of water in with them. The heat was around 90-95 degrees, and I’m very unsure of the humidity. I was worried that no eggs would hatch due to my heat and humidity, but I was wrong! I had 9 baby chicks hatch with a temperature under normal limits. Also, the box was uncovered and with no set humidity! I know that everywhere says they have to be at a certain temperature and humidity to hatch, but I experienced something differently! I have 9 HEALTHY babies that hatched. I just wanted to post my experience to see if anyone has ever experienced anything similar and to get your thoughts on this!

Congratulations! It's a true testament to the resilience of eggs...and nice job saving those babies! :jumpy

I agree... it would have been difficult had you attempted to incubate the eggs from first-day by this method. I’m impressed, tho! Nice job. A testament to the value of not giving up without a fight. You go!!!

Thanks you! And actually my boyfriend hatched mallard eggs with a heat lamp and spraying them with water !! Most hatched and were healthy! The mother duck had abandoned them early on and were left in the rain! They hatched fine with this method.
