I just had to post some pics of my new babies... They are Frizzles and probably Cochin Bantams. Not too sure about the one with clean legs though.
I brought them home yesterday and I swear they have not left the food dish since then! Is that normal????

Anyway, I had to clean the butt of the little black one this morning, it was not too bad but it would have gotten that way quick if I hadn't of cleaned him/her up. This chick was not too happy about it either! lol...

Is there something I can do to prevent the buildup? This is the first chick that I had this problem with and I'm still pretty new to chickens anyway.

Anyway, I just had to show them off a little bit, aren't they soooo adorable??

I can't wait for picture day next Friday!

Awwww.....look at them! Their little feathers are already getting "frizzely".

I had a problem with pasty butt and I did a lot of searching to try to help the problem and I found that stress (from shipping), too much heat and sugar in their water can all cause pasty butt. I changed them to regular water and raised their heat lamp and didn't have anymore problems after that.

Putting apple cider vinegar in the waterer helps. 1 teaspoon per gallon of water, I believe. A few of mine had it and I started putting acv in the water and none have it now.

ACV - I had 1 chick with pasty butt, and all gone now that there is ACV in the water! I also think they might be drinking more now that it's "flavored"! I was suprised at that. I was worried they would take one sip, and say "what in the world is this????!!!"

Sweet babies!
I just had to post - I have that very same angel (behind the black chick). It sits on my bathroom counter with flowers my DD made.
