It's going to be a job starting from scratch on the dogs again but it makes free range chickens much easier. It helps to get and keep another dog to be trained by the last dog but I slipped up and only had one that a pack of coyotes got ahold of. I'm thinking about getting this ones brother as well. But idk if training two dogs at once is the wisest move or if I should stick to training one and let it get a bit older and allow it to train another pup. I'd appreciate your opinions and experience? This is primarily from a big German Shepherd breed and is touched with some Rottweiler. Just like my last LGD who was the best LGD you could ask for. Straight did his job and some.

Two pups maybe a lot of stress on you but their bond as brothers will be so much fun to watch I’m sure. I think it depends on if you want the extra stress of two pups. It also maybe easy to have them at the same time because they will be on the same schedule right off the bat. And sometimes it’s hard introducing a puppy to an bigger dog just as it is introducing a toddler to a new baby.

He sounds like he will be a great farm dog. Love those German Shepherds for sure.

Personally, I would train the 1 pup before getting another. GS are smart and learn quickly when they want to. But 2 pups will feed off each other's energy and double the energy will make it harder to get them to focus on what you want them to do.

I had an 8 year old English Setter when we got our German Shepherd. There were times that I had to lock the old guy in the house when I trained the pup, since the English Setter was more pet than farm dog. GS needed some different training than the old guy had and old guy kept getting in the way.

As a dog trainer I would NOT reccommend getting two puppies and raising them together. Most of clients over the years thought it to be a good idea only regretting it later on. You want puppy to take his job seriously and not be distracted by a playmate. Once he has been throughly trained to do his job can you then get a send dog

We did two at once, ONCE! It was triple trouble, not a good experience. They bonded with each other and were much more difficult to train.
Having an adult, and then a puppy of the opposite sex, works much better.
