Beautiful!

I do agree about separating the dog and the chicken. Maybe the dog can be laying down, nice and peaceful, like the cats. Or not be in the picture at all. Here's why - in the current drawing it can look like the dog caught the chicken but it can also look like they are friends and the sad trouble with that is that people who don't know any better might think dogs and chickens are natural friends and they are not. With one horrific account on BYC after another about the maiming and torture and murder of birds by dogs (and this is just the tip of the iceberg), probably best to keep people reality-based. Hate to take something light hearted and lovely like this beautiful drawing and turn it serious but hopefully your eggs will go to many, many people, and some of those people will have dogs as well as neighbors with chickens.....Every dog incident I've ever had (due to thousands in vet bills and because I stand right over my birds when I let them out I haven't had any bird losses but their has been pain and suffering) has involved people who said "Fido" is sooooo sweet and they can't believe he/she would have attacked birds. Generally speaking, people have a long way to go on that learning curve. Until and unless I see a dramatic reduction in the number of heartwrenching dog-attacked-chickens stories, I will be looking for every which way to enlighten people and at the very least not to perpetuate their illusion that Fido can pop by the neighbors house without catastrophe for that neighbor's feathered friends.
Sometimes I envision egg carton labels with fun and really interesting facts about chickens that help endear these special beings to people but that also gently and in a non lecturing way educate folks to ensure their dogs are not loose when their neighbors have birds..... Anyway, I digress!
Thanks very much for sharing the beautiful drawing!
