Hello, folks. I'm into my third winter of raising chickens. 4 hens the first year and have 13 with 2 roosters now. Learning every day. We've produced a couple of litters of chicks and I took 6 hens from a person who was giving up chickens due to moving. That's how the flock grew. We started with Austrolorp hens and one Jersey Giant rooster and acquired 6 Buff Orpingtons from the friend who moved. Our chicks have all been black but for one that is an interesting orange and black mix.
Egg production has been down for a while due to molting and winter but it is gradually starting to come back up.
My plan is to raise some meat birds this summer. This is becoming a challenging retirement job. I'm glad I'm here.
