My new Orpingtons

I love them!!! I finally get my buff orps on Thursday... yippeeee...
Unfortunately I had to get the bantams b/c my daughter wanted silkies and polish and they couldn't ship together

I hope I like the bantams as much as my friends standards.

Feather Sexing

The breeder flock for the female line must be slow feathering only, and the breeder flock for the male line must be fast feathering only. To breed for the chicks you would then cross the slow feathering females with the fast feathering males. The resulting offspring would be the opposite of their parents. Females fast feathering and the males slow feathering.

I have an orp that exhibited all the early signs of being a pullet (wing feathers as above, first with a tail, first to feather out) and now at 8 weeks has the biggest comb and wattles of the whole group. Some really are hard to figure out.
