My chickens free range in the late afternoon and they will take a break and fly up and rest on the new roost. I had several wild grapevines growing and it was either cut them down or use them to my best advantage. So I came up with this idea. The roost sits next to a giant tree and now provides a nice shady location for my chickens to take a break in the afternoon. I wrapped the vines around the branches so they will grow more uniformly and will make it easier for me to keep pruned.

That's really nice. I like that you are wrapping the vines around it. Did you just nail it together?
I started to get the nails out then decided it would be better to use screws instead. It will make it easier if I ever want to disassemble it or if I need to ever tighten any part of it. I also used screws for attaching it to the side of the barn. I know most folks see wild grapevines as annoying and they can create problems and cause damage to buildings on property. I can now keep it under control and prune as needed. Grapevines also make a wonderful material for projects such in basket weaving, etc.
