After doing research into breeds, I settled on getting some Australorps to keep my lone Isla company.
On Thursday I got 5 chicks that are 2 weeks old, unsexed. They are in a rabbit hutch we had spare, with added chicken wire to keep out the kittens paws. A heat lamp on each level, bountiful hay and they are good to go. We are handling them daily too to get them use to us. going well (they snuggle in and promptly go to sleep when we settle down with them.
Wing test says they are female. the hang from their feet test says all males. So I am going to have to wait until the 4-6 week mark I think.
But I hope to have a weekly update at least
