My new pigeons!

Yep, these can not fly at all! I have to try tomorrow to see how they roll

Don't know if they are tumblers or rollers

Nice pair, yes those just roll on the ground. Those are parlor rollers, roller and tumbler can fly and roll or tumble in the air.Tumbler just a few flips, some rollers will roll down many feet, then join the flock.

Parlor Rollers best raise in small pens like a rabbit hutch. If you try putting them in a loft with other pigeons. They have to nest on the ground and other pigeon may peck the squeakers.

To get them to roll, place them down on ground. Just clap your hand in front of them. They roll backward. Make sure the area is a soft place ,not a driveway or hard surface.

Way cool Shelley. I got my first pigeons not to long ago. Chuck tells me mine are homers. My pair have attempted to hatch three times now but keep cracking the eggs.

I can't wait to fly them. Everywhere I go I'm thinking I can bring them here with me and release them to fly home but I will have to wait until I have raised some squeakers to do this. I know I will end up getting more in the future, I like them so much. Let me know what you think of yours. I'm like you and know nothing about them but Chuck and some others are educating me on them. There is another thread, check it out.

No one has answered my ads for a piglet yet. I'm asking for a 2 or 3 week old. I'm also asking to see the parents. Hell someone could sell me a hog and I wouldn't know the difference. lol

I have found the formula I will need and you know I will house raise mine. I know I'm setting myself up for around the clock feedings but I can handle it. Snakeman told me there will be no problem knowing when the baby wants to eat. He said they will squeal like a, well like a pig. lol I have another ad comes out in mondays paper. Wish me luck.

Oh, I hope you get one Sara!! They shouldn't be much to buy, I only paid $15 for my potbelly baby. He was only 3 weeks old at the time too.

deerman~~So they flip backwards, not forwards?

monarc23~~I just reread your post. The hen is the black one. The grizzled one is the cock.

You are doing so right by your son. You are giving him memories he will carry the rest of his life. I'm so happy he is enjoying the pigeons. You will have to teach him how to get them to roll once you learn. lol

As far as cost of the baby pig it's not that big of a deal. I had ran the first ad a couple of days before Sadie died. I'm still devasted and a new baby right now would help me. There are some three month olds available but I don't want one that old. I will probably have the thing so spoiled, like I do everything else. So what else is new right. lol
