I have 4, 21 week old pullets that are just starting to lay. I have not found any eggs in the nest boxes but did find 2 eggs on the floor. They were shriveled and appeared to have been pecked and eaten. What should I do? I don't want them to be egg eaters.

To discourage hens from eating eggs, you can put little curtains on the nest boxes, so the culprit won't see the other bird's eggs and eat them. You could also put golf balls in the nest. When the bird tries to peck it, and finds that it can't be eaten, it will be less likely to eat eggs. Collect eggs multiple times a day.

I have seen curtains as a suggested deterrent for egg eating.
I have this issue currently in my flock and was wondering if anyone could elaborate on this technique. Is there a thread I can refer too?

We have been unsuccessful in identifying the culprit as we have 8 Golden Comets that look all the same!

What type of material, should it cover the whole nest area, and will the chickens continue to use that area if they have to push through the obstacle?
